adminBikeMO News

The 2024 MOBikeFed August BikeMO event brings an exciting new twist to this year’s ride with a fresh starting point in the charming town of Boonville, Missouri. This year’s route is a metric century (100 kilometers or approximately 62 miles), thoughtfully designed to give you more time to explore the historic gems along the way.

A New Starting Point: Boonville, Missouri

The journey begins in Boonville, a town rich in history and scenic beauty. Known for its well-preserved historic homes and vibrant downtown, Boonville offers plenty to see and do before you even start pedaling. Take some time to visit the Katy Depot, a beautifully restored train station. Or check out the Boonville Tourism building which also serves as the Rivers, Rails, and Trails Museum. Stroll through the quaint streets lined with Victorian-era homes or take the guided bike tour of historic Boonville. The town also features the Isle of Capri Casino, which serves as our ride host for those looking for a bit of excitement after the ride.

A Metric Century with Time to Explore

This year’s route is designed with more than just cycling in mind. As you make your way along the scenic roads, you’ll have the opportunity to stop and explore some of Missouri’s most historic towns. We’ve intentionally built extra time into the ride so you can pause, stretch your legs, and soak in the history and culture these quaint towns offer.

Discover Blackwater, Missouri

Your first stop is Blackwater, a tiny town big on charm. With its preserved 19th-century buildings and peaceful, small-town atmosphere, Blackwater is like stepping back in time. Don’t miss the Iron Horse Hotel, a historic site that offers a glimpse into the past. You can also check out the historic telephone museum while you are there.

Explore Arrow Rock, Missouri

Next is Arrow Rock, a town steeped in history; the entire town is designated as a National Historic Landmark. This village is a living museum with well-preserved buildings and a rich history dating back to the early 1800s. Visit the Arrow Rock State Historic Site to explore the Old Tavern, one of the oldest continuously operated taverns west of the Mississippi River. The Arrow Rock Lyceum Theatre also offers live performances in a historical setting, and the local shops feature handcrafted goods and local art.

While in Arrow Rock, you will get to visit the Badger’s Hideaway, our SAG Stop sponsor in town! While there riders will be treated to ice cream courtesy of Badger’s Hideaway.

A Historic Ride with Modern Convenience

As you cycle through these towns, take your time to explore the historic homes, graveyards, and other sites along the route. Whether you’re a history buff, a lover of architecture, or enjoy the beauty of small towns, this year’s BikeMO route offers something for everyone.
